Nexteer Automotive Registered Apprentice: Anwar
February 26, 2026
Anwar defines the dedication required to master a skilled trade while uplifting everyone around him. This commitment was officially recognized when he won the MASCI Excellence in Apprenticeship award in December 2025 for Advanced Manufacturing, an achievement that led Nexteer to feature him in their Superstars Magazine.
Since January 2022, he has maintained great attendance and volunteers for the less desirable shift to ensure his Registered Apprenticeship training stays on track. He knew this move would limit his time with family, but he stepped up because his team needed a leader on the floor during those hours.
His commitment to the mission is visible every day, as Anwar frequently works throughout the day to make necessary repairs on equipment, significantly reducing downtime for the assembly lines.
His approach to safety is just as rigorous; he is adamant about following mandatory rules and keeps his jobsite spotless, understanding that organization is the foundation of a safe workplace.
Beyond the machine shop, Anwar is a natural mentor. He was a key part of a team effort to schedule study groups at Delta College to ensure his peers passed difficult classes, and he used his outgoing personality to engage 5,000 students in a hands-on experience at MICareerQuest.
This commitment to lifting others up extends deeply into his union and community. He serves as the Trustee Chairman of his local and is the Junior Vice Commander for VFW Post 9931.
Whether he is active on the Civil and Human Rights and Veterans committees, volunteering at the VA hospital on bingo nights, or helping with local parades, Anwar’s leadership is defined by his service to his fellow workers and his community.
Much like his favorite sport of golf, Anwar views his career as a challenge of mental focus and constant self-improvement. He is a true believer that there is no "I" in team, and his journey from Truck Repair into the Machine Repair program shows a professional who has never finished learning.
