(Numbers in chart are in millions)
Less than 15% of the DNR’s budget comes from state taxes (General Fund revenue). The DNR’s bills are paid from about 50 different funds, many of which have unique revenue streams, including user fees paid by those who hunt, fish, snowmobile, camp, harvest timber, ride off-road vehicles, or otherwise take part in natural resource-based activities.
Daniel Eichinger was appointed as director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Dec. 27, 2018. Prior to joining the DNR as director, he served as executive director of Michigan United Conservation Clubs, the nation’s most effective state-based conservation organization.
