Wolf management plan
The DNR’s wolf management plan, last updated in 2022, provides strategic guidance for the management of wolves in Michigan. It was developed to:
- Help maintain a viable Michigan wolf population above a level that would warrant its classification as threatened or endangered.
- Facilitate wolf-related benefits.
- Minimize wolf-related conflicts.
- Conduct science-based wolf management with socially responsible methods.
The plan does not outline operational details of wolf management in Michigan. Operational details are specified within guidance documents, protocols and regulation memos.
