SPECIAL LOCAL WATERCRAFT CONTROLS - KENT COUNTY

BIG WABASIS LAKE - R281.741.1 - Hours for high-speed boating and water skiing.

1. On the waters of Big Wabasis lake, T9N, R9W, Oakfield township, Kent county, it is unlawful:

(a) Between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. of the following day, to operate a vessel at high speed, or have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, water sled, kite, surfboard or other similar contrivance.

(b) At any time, to operate a vessel at a speed in excess of 35 miles per hour (56 kilometers per hour).

BLUE LAKE - R281.741.3 - Hours for slow-no wake speed.

3. On the waters of Blue lake, sections 10 and 15, T10N, R9W, Spencer township, Kent county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. of the following day.

CAMP LAKE - WC-41-86-001 - Speed limit.

On the waters of Camp lake, sections 7 and 18, T9N, R11W, Algoma township, Kent county, it is unlawful at any time to operate a vessel in excess of 40 miles per hour (64 kilometers per hour).

CEDAR LAKE AND CONNECTING WATERS - R281.741.9 - High-speed boating and water skiing prohibited.

9. On the waters of Cedar lake and connecting waters, including the channel between Cedar and Friant lakes, section 10, 11, 14, and 15, T10N, R9W, Spencer township, Kent county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, a water sled, kite, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

COWAN LAKE - R281.741.6.- High-speed boating and water skiing prohibited.

6. On the waters of Cowan lake, section 6, T8N, R9W, Grattan township, and section 31, T9N, R9W, Oakfield township, Kent county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, a water sled, kite, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

FLAT RIVER - WC-41-94-001 - Slow-no wake speed.

On the waters of the Flat river, in section 24 (upstream limit is the "covered bridge"), sections 25 and 26 (downstream limit is the STS power dam), town 7 north, range 9 west, Vergennes township, Kent county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System.

FLAT RIVER - WC-41-06-002 - Slow-no wake speed

On the waters of the Flat River, being that portion as it extends southerly from the Flat River Drive bridge to the upstream Lowell City Limits known locally as the "Boy Scout" property, to the nearest opposite shore as posted. All located within sections 25, 26, 35, 36, town 7 north, range 9 west, township of Vergennes, county of Kent, state of Michigan, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

Slow-no wake speed means a very slow speed whereby the wake or wash created by the motorboat would be minimal.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and/or with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System.

FRIANT LAKE - R281.741.8 - High-speed boating and water skiing prohibited.

8. On the waters of Friant lake, section 15, T10N, R9W, Spencer township, Kent county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, a water sled, kite, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

HIGH LAKE - WC-41-06-001 - Slow-no wake speed.

On the waters of High Lake, section 20, town 9 north, range 11 west, township of Algoma, county of Kent, state of Michigan, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System. For the purpose of this ordinance, a slow-no wake speed is a very slow speed whereby the wake or wash created from a motorized watercraft would be minimal.

LINCOLN LAKE - R281.741.7 - Hours for high-speed boating and water skiing.

7. On the waters of Lincoln lake, sections 15, 22, and 27, T10N, R9W, Spencer township, Kent county, it is unlawful, between the ours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. of the following day, to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, a water sled, kite, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

MASTON AND MUSKELLONGE LAKES - R281.741.4 - Hours for slow-no wake speed.

4. On the waters of Maston and Muskellonge lakes, sections 2, 3, 10, and 11, T10N, R9W, Spencer township, Kent county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. of the following day.

MASTON AND MUSKELLONGE LAKES, CHANNEL CONNECTING - R281.741.5 - Slow-no wake speed.

5. On the waters of the channel connecting Maston to Muskellonge lake, sections 10 and 11, T10N, R9W, Spencer township, Kent county, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

OLIN LAKE - WC-41-95-002 - Hours for high-speed boating.

On the waters of Olin lake, sections 31 and 32, town 10 north, range 11 west, township of Solon, county of Kent, state of Michigan, it is unlawful between the hours of 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. of the following day to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or shall otherwise assist in the propulsion of a person on water skis, water sled, surfboard or other similar contrivance.

The hours should be 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. of the following day when Eastern Daylight Savings Time is in effect. "High-speed boating" is defined by the marine Safety Act to mean a speed at or above which a motorboat reaches a planing condition.

ROUND LAKE - WC-41-90-001 - Electric motors only.

On the waters of Round lake, section 21, T8N, R9W, Grattan township, Kent county, it is unlawful to operate a vessel powered by a motor except an electric motor.

SQUAW LAKE - WC-41-97-001 - Slow-no wake speed.

On the waters of Squaw Lake, section 6, town 9 north, range 11 west, Algoma township, Kent county, state of Michigan, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System.

SQUAW LAKE - WC-41-97-002 - Slow-no wake speed.

On the waters of Squaw Lake, section 1, town 9 north, range 12 west, Sparta township, Kent county, state of Michigan, it is unlawful for the operator of a vessel to exceed a slow-no wake speed.

The boundaries of the area described immediately above shall be marked with signs and with buoys. All buoys must be placed as provided in a permit issued by the Department of Natural Resources and be in conformance with the State Uniform Waterway Marking System.

UPPER LAKE - WC-41-95-001 - Hours for high-speed boating.

On the waters of Upper lake, all within sections 2 and 3, town 10 north, range 11 west, Solon township, Kent county, it is unlawful between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. of the following day to:

(a) Operate a vessel at high speed.

(b) Have in tow, or otherwise assist in the propulsion of, a person on water skis, a water sled, kite, surfboard, or other similar contrivance.

The hours should be 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. of the following day when Eastern Daylight Savings Time is in effect. "High speed boating" is defined by the Marine Safety Act to mean a speed at or above which a motorboat reaches a planing condition.

WALDEN LAKE - R281.741.2 - Motorboats prohibited.

2. On the waters of Walden (Waldron) lake, section 5, T6N, R10W, Cascade township, Kent county, it is unlawful to operate a motorboat.
