Allegan State Game Area - Lupine Bloom and Karner Blue Butterfly Walk
Explore one of Michigan’s rarest habitats during peak wild lupine bloom at the Allegan State Game Area. Join a wildlife biologist for a guided walk through the oak savanna landscape and learn about the federally endangered Karner blue butterfly, one of the rarest butterflies in North America.
Participants will learn how habitat management, including prescribed fire and restoration work, helps support wild lupine and the wildlife that depend on it. Allegan State Game Area is one of only a few places in Michigan where Karner blue butterflies can still reliably be found.
