1 01/28/2024 Clinton Rabbit Injury No Shotgun N/A 58 No No Final While rabbit hunting in a group, two hunters from the group fired at a rabbit on the run. The victim was struck in the eye from a BB from one of the shots. Victim stated he was not in the line of fire when the rabbit jumped and believed the shot was a ricochet. (Failed to ID beyond target).
2 09/04/2024 Clinton Goose Fatal Yes Shotgun N/A 42 No No Final While goose hunting, the subject call 911 and advised he had accidently shot himself in the left leg. The subject was deceased by the time first responders arrived at the scene. (Careless use of a Firearm).
3 11/16/2024 Lapeer Deer Injury No Rifle 42 41 No No Final Hunters from the same hunting party were in pop-up blinds approximately 370 yards apart. The shooter shot twice at a deer. It is believed one of the shots ricocheted and struck the victim in the other blind in the face. (Failed to ID beyond target).
4 11/18/2024 Grand Traverse Deer Injury Yes Pistol 61 N/A No No Final At the completion of his sit, the subject was attempting to holster a pistol in a should holster when the pistol discharged. The round struck the subject in the left leg. (Careless handling of a firearm).
5 11/24/2024 Ingham Deer Injury No Pistol 63 N/A No No Final Subject was attempting to put down an injured deer with his sidearm. The subject had the pistol in his right hand and was adjusting the grip with his left and the pistol discharged striking him in the left hand. (Careless handling of a firearm).
