Description of the area
Wigwam Bay State Wildlife Area is in Arenac County and consists of 3,137 Acres of coastal marshland. On the shores of the Saginaw Bay, Wigwam Bay provides important nesting and brood rearing habitat for mallards and wood ducks and provides important migratory stopover and wintering habitat for scaup, redhead, and canvasback. It is also an important nesting place for black terns, American bitterns and many other wetland birds.
