Parking lot vouchers

If you're towing an ORV with a trailer or need to use a parking space, AND IT'S A WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY (two weeks prior to Memorial Day to the Sunday after Labor Day), you'll need to acquire a parking lot voucher. The voucher "holds your place in line for a parking space," while staggering arrival times.

How it works:

  • Go to welcome center to get your parking voucher (see times below).
  • Arrive during your allotted parking time slot, park and get dune ready.
  • Enjoy, and ride safely!

Cost

Parking vouchers are FREE and distributed from the ORV welcome center.

About vouchers / times

Parking vouchers are distributed for one of two arrival times: 7 to 8 a.m. or 8 to 9 a.m.. Be sure to arrive at your designated time indicated on your voucher.

If you arrive after your voucher entry time, you'll need to secure a stand-by voucher for later in the day.

Be sure your voucher slip is validated (HOLE-TYPE PUNCHED) when you arrive for the first time, on any particular day.

No parking lot spaces will be guaranteed after 9 a.m. nor can a space be held for someone to arrive later.

Trailers are not allowed into the ORV Area beyond the safety check station.

You may not use your voucher to trailer additional or new vehicles after you gain entry (unless prior arrangements are made with park officials and noted on the validated voucher).

Distribution

Voucher distribution begins at 8 a.m. at the welcome center on Fridays for Saturday and Sunday arrivals. The number of parking spaces determines the number of vouchers.

The welcome center is located at the corner of Fox and Ridge roads, approximately 1/4 mile east of the ORV Area entrance.

Once all regular parking vouchers are distributed additional guests will be informed to arrive at the welcome center at 7:30 a.m. the following day to be placed on stand-by for a voucher. There will still be a wait, since there is no guarantee when parking spaces may open up due to a variety of factors, including no-shows, early or unplanned departures and space sharing.

Only one voucher will be issued to an adult, whether picking up the voucher for yourself or for someone else. The person picking up the voucher will need to know the name, license plate number and the intended entry time.

You can also purchase your ORV license and permits and at the welcome center. Several DNR license agents and dealers also sell ORV licenses and permits (and could speed up entry).

Leaving and re-entering

Once you have entered the park, you may stay as long as you like until closing. Parking lot vouchers only specify the arrival time.

Voucher holders that leave the ORV Area will be required to go to the end of the waiting line to re-enter will not be guaranteed space upon returning.
