Compliance Conferences and Prehearing Meetings

A compliance conference or a prehearing meeting is an informal meeting held by either telephone or videoconference where the Respondent or Applicant will have an opportunity to meet with the Bureau to either demonstrate compliance with the law, negotiate a settlement with the Bureau, or demonstrate why an Applicant should be granted a license.

Two People Shaking Hands

  • You are not required to be represented by an attorney when meeting with the Bureau; however, you may have an attorney represent you at any point in the administrative proceedings at your own expense.
  • When a Formal Complaint is issued, you will receive a Compliance Conference Election Form. The Compliance Conference Election Form allows you to select one of three options on how to proceed. The Notice of Opportunity to Show Compliance that accompanies the Formal Complaint will explain each of the three options. This Notice will also specify a date by which you must respond. Failure to respond by that date may result in the matter being forwarded on for an administrative hearing.  Please review your options carefully and ensure the form is completely filled out  before returning.

  • When an Initiating Order is issued, you will receive a Request for Hearing Form. The Request for Hearing Form allows you to select one of two or three options on how to proceed. The Notice document that accompanies the Initiating Order will explain your options. This Notice will also specify a date by which you must respond. Failure to respond by that date may result in the matter being forwarded on for an administrative hearing or in the issuance of a Final Order. Please review your options carefully and ensure the form is completely filled out before returning.

  • Once you have completed the Compliance Conference Election Form or Request for Hearing Form, please return it by mail, email, or fax using the following contact information:
