Start your career with the DNR as one of the most iconic employees on public lands. As frontline staff at state parks and other DNR-managed recreation facilities, you'll provide customer service, perform essential functions and feed your passion for the outdoors (and your pocket). Commissioned and non-commissioned seasonal park rangers help carry out day-to-day operational and maintenance duties. They will train and provide direction to staff and volunteers; maintain grounds, infrastructure and equipment; and perform other duties as assigned. Think of the position as wearing lots of hats!
Providing excellent customer service to all visitors and ensuring personal safety, as well as the safety of coworkers and the public, are also essential functions of the position.
Position overview
- Are paid between $19.78 - $27.81 an hour.
- Receive state employment benefits.
- Work a minimum of 1,360 hours and a maximum of 2,000 hours annually.
- Should be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Should be willing to work holidays, weekends and evenings.
- Are required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Commissioned rangers are also required to pass a pre-employment physical exam.
