Pay range: $24.36 – $31.90 an hour

These enthusiastic, nature-minded folks lead hikes and activities and present fun programs that shine a spotlight on each park's unique resources.

Seasonal park rangers

Pay range: $19.39 - $27.26 an hour

Train and lead staff and volunteers; provide customer service; maintain grounds, infrastructure and equipment; and perform other duties as assigned.

Full- and part-time firefighters

Fight fires, conduct prescribed burns and assist with forest management (i.e. cultivation work, operate heavy machinery, work with partners, maintain equipment).

Potential career paths

Below are some examples of potential careers with the DNR. These are not necessarily active job postings, just examples of various position descriptions within the DNR that we hire for.

Pursuant to section 238 of PA 166 of 2022, the Department of Natural Resources posts this notice that it has adopted a hybrid policy that includes in-person, remote, and alternative work arrangements. The department or agency has the authority to assign and schedule its employees and determine their work location. This policy also provides for work options contingent upon the operational needs of the department or agency.  Approval is at the discretion of the department or agency and can be changed or rescinded based upon operational needs. The policy includes which positions may qualify for a work option, how to request one and the requirements necessary for approval.
