DNR's Western UP Citizens' Advisory Council to meet July 20 in Delta County

At its July meeting in Escanaba, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Western Upper Peninsula Citizens’ Advisory Council is scheduled to learn practical tips for a safe and enjoyable state park experience, receive an update on charter boat captain requirements and consider several resolutions addressing bat research, fishing and climate change and guiding on the Great Lakes in winter months.
The meeting will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. EDT (5 to 7:30 p.m. CDT) Monday, July 20 at the DNR Pocket Park classroom, located on the U.P. State Fairgrounds at 2401 12th Avenue North, Escanaba.
Additional business includes reports from various DNR division staff, old business items and subcommittee reports.

The DNR’s eastern and western Upper Peninsula citizens’ advisory councils are designed to provide local input to advise the DNR on regional programs and policies, identify areas in which the department can be more effective and responsive and offer insight and guidance from members’ own experiences and constituencies.
The council members represent a wide variety of natural resource and recreation interests. Agenda items are set by the council members and council recommendations are forwarded to the DNR for consideration.
