Yearly, the Metro Detroit group of AFSP fundraise and gather to support one another at the annual Metro Detroit Out of the Darkness Community walk. 

The community walks are held across the country. Out of the Darkness walks give people the courage to open up about their own connections to the cause, and a platform to create a culture that’s smarter about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we’ve lost.

Enjoy a lantern-lit winter hike on February 28 from 6–9 PM along Tawas Point, featuring a 1.25-mile round-trip trail, warming fires, hot chocolate, s’mores, and a cozy seasonal atmosphere.

Hartwick Pines Visitor Center - Feb. 28, Old Growth Snowshoe Hike
This just-over-one-mile walk includes stops along the way to learn about the ecology of the forest and the lumberjacks who lived and worked in logging camps in the early 1900s.
