  • All alarms received from MI Prevention must have the installations documented in our Document Manager (DM) system. This can be done with the link above or on a computer through our App. This step is helpful and convenient in the field. To obtain the App, scan the Quick Response Scan (QRS) on the alarm box you received or from the following link.
  • The app is web-based and can ONLY be found with this QR Code

  • If you need to pick up a Disability Alarm, please see app under "Disability Network Advocates".
  • If you need to enter a Disability Alarm installation, please see form in app under "Disability Alarms Installation Form".
  • All alarm installations shall be entered into MIP-DMS by the fire department or organization that requested the alarms.
  • Alarms are given in smaller quantities in the first batch and as you enter the installations into the system properly and continue to have accurate inventory #s, the number of alarms received increases.
  • If you have a smoke alarm Blitz scheduled soon, please contact LARA-miprevention@michigan.gov to discuss the amounts of alarms needed for the project.
  • Fire Departments have the option to track with the MI Prevention DM System all alarms they install, not just the ones MI Prevention provides. All alarms are tracked in the app, and you will be given a report for all alarms entered. All the data from these installations gives the State of Michigan data that helps determine the fire fatality issues in our state along with the high-risk regions.
  • The deadlines to install these alarms are designated by each donor and will be outlined when you receive your supply from MI Prevention. If you have any questions regarding your installation deadline, contact MI Prevention at LARA-miprevention@michigan.gov
  • While installations are limited to the State of Michigan, there are no restrictions on installing smoke alarms outside of your region, township, etc. MI Prevention encourages you to have your entire family, department, and team to have working smoke alarms. Again, the only restrictions are to install the alarms within the State of Michigan.
