Cannabis Regulatory Agency Now Accepting Applications for FY 2025 Social Equity Grant Program

During the last fiscal year, 62 Michigan social equity licensees received over $16,000 each through the Cannabis Regulatory Agency’s (CRA) Social Equity Grant Program (SEGP). The CRA is excited to announce that the SEGP will be returning again this fiscal year, and applications will be accepted starting today, November 1, 2024.

The SEGP will again have one million dollars in grant funding that will be available to adult-use entities that meet the following three criteria:

1. Have a valid adult-use license authorized and issued by the State of Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Cannabis Regulatory Agency.

2. Have current, eligible social equity program participants that have majority ownership (over 50%) of the entity.

3. The entity must be a certified participant in the CRA’s Social Equity All-Star Program (either bronze, silver, or gold level).

Funds from the SEGP may be used for any of the following:

  • Education of an employee of the licensed establishment
  • Re-investment into the community where the licensed establishment is located
  • Business needs of the licensed establishment

The application for the 2024-2025 SEGP is now available on the SEGP webpage. The deadline to turn in the FY 2025 SEGP application is November 30, 2024, at 5:00 PM.

Adult-use licensees that are majority owned (over 50%) by eligible social equity program participants but are not yet certified participants in the CRA’s Social Equity All-Star Program may enroll prior to applying for the SEGP, as long as their complete application is received by November 30, 2024, at 5:00 PM. Information on how to enroll is available on the Social Equity All-Star Program website.

The CRA has scheduled an education session regarding the Social Equity Grant Program for Thursday, November 7th at 10:00 AM. The education session information is available on the CRA’s website and will also be available for replay as needed.

Only one grant will be awarded per entity, regardless of how many licenses the entity has. All applications and awards will be published on the CRA website for full transparency. Each approved grantee will receive an equal share of the $1 million dollars in grant funds. For example, if 100 grantees qualify, then the grant awards will be $10,000 per approved grantee. Questions regarding the SEGP should be sent to the CRA Social Equity Team via email: CRA-SEGrants@michigan.gov.
