Unemployment Update #3
September 04, 2026
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new unemployment tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). MiUI Tax functions are live and Benefits functions are scheduled to be available November 9, 2026.
In this issue of the MiUI Unemployment Update, we’re sharing details about fact finding in MiUI.
Fact Finding in MiUI
Fact finding may occur when there are additional questions related to a claim or certification that need to be answered, as well as any other time more information is required.
Fact finding may appear during the initial claims or weekly certification process, or in the Actions Required section on the claimant homepage.
Upon completion, a confirmation message will appear (see example screenshot below).

Workers receiving unemployment benefits will be able to upload supporting documents at the end of the fact finding process. Files cannot be larger than 10 MB and the following formats are acceptable: .bmp, .gif, .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .tif, .tiff, and .pdf.
In MiUI, workers can find outstanding fact findings on the Claimant Homepage under the Actions Required section.
