Animal Disease Analytical Testing Services
Animal disease testing services are offered to veterinarian practitioners.
Appropriate forms can be obtained by calling the MDARD Supply line at 517-373-9794
All tests require a minimum of 1ml serum, preferably in a serum separator tube and spun before mailing. If whole blood is submitted it is best to ship the sample chilled with a cold pack to preserve it, especially in the summer months.
Please make sure all appropriate paperwork is completely filled out, multi-part forms remain intact and all signatures are in place to avoid delays in processing.
Samples can be dropped off Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm at, or mailed/shipped to:

MDARD accepts all test samples submitted through the free USDA VSPS site https://vsapps.aphis.usda.gov/vsps
MDARD also accepts samples for Equine Infectious Anemia (Coggins) testing that are submitted through www.globalvetlink.com
Test Fees are as follows:
Anaplasmosis (C-ELISA); Bovine and other ruminants - $9.00
Bluetongue (C-ELISA); Bovine and other ruminants - $9.00
Brucellosis (serum only); Bovine and other ruminants* and Swine - $3.00
*We do not provide Brucellosis testing on Sheep
Equine Infectious Anemia, Coggins (AGID or ELISA) - $8.00
Johne's (ELISA); Bovine, Goats, Sheep - $8.00
Pseudorabies (ELISA); Swine - $5.00
FAX/EMAIL results; per page, per FAX number/EMAIL address - $2.00
• All results, will be mailed per directions on the multi-part forms unless otherwise requested. Please remember that mail service may take 5-7 days to be delivered.
• They may also be picked up at the laboratory.
• Any resulted forms requested for pick up at the laboratory and left at the laboratory for greater than two (2) weeks will be mailed to the address on the form.
