Regenerative Value Chains Grant

The Regenerative Value Chains Grant is a one-time funding opportunity offered by Farm to Family, an innovative program of the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development (MDARD) that offers grants, networking opportunities, and marketing consultations for farmers, food businesses, and others in local food supply chains. Funding will expand market opportunities for farmers that use regenerative practices by funding the purchase of on-farm point-of-sale equipment, marketing materials, light processing equipment, and wash/pack infrastructure.

MDARD will accept applications for the Regenerative Value Chains Grant through the MIAgGrants portal until May 1, 2026, at 5pm ET. Eligibility

Applicants for this grant program must be farmers in Michigan who can describe how they apply regenerative principles to their operation. Regenerative agriculture is an active approach to land management driven by improving soil health. Principles of regenerative agriculture include:

Key Grant Criteria

Please see the Regenerative Value Chains Grant Guidelines for a full list of required and preferred grant criteria.

  • The project proposal must demonstrate how equipment and services included in the budget will help to develop market channels for regenerative agriculture products.
  • The proposal must includes specific targets for:
    • Volume of regenerative products sold
    • Dollar value of regenerative products sold
    • Revenue to producers from regenerative product sales
    • Number or types of consumers with access to regenerative products
  • Preference will be given to projects that create revenue that will support diversification on the farm.
  • Preference will be given to applicants that have completed a soil health assessment with a CTAP technician.
  • Preference will be given to projects that promote regenerative practices to consumers through marketing or education.
