Wholesale Food Processors include food establishments that process, manufacture, wholesale, package, label, or store food. Food processing includes activities, such as canning, freezing, dehydrating, drying, distilling, extracting, preserving, grinding, crushing, milling, washing, trimming, packing, or otherwise preserving or changing the form of a food. Wholesale is defined as selling or distributing foods to entities, such as restaurants, grocery stores, and distributors. Wholesale operations are not excluded from selling directly to the end-user consumer, but it is not their primary business.
This guide is not for Retail Food Establishments, which are operations that sell or offer to sell food directly to an end-user consumer. Retail groceries and food service establishments are Retail Food establishments.
