Farm to Family

We are connecting farmers to consumers! We want everyone to have access to healthy, locally grown food. We help farmers and food businesses grow by providing grants, networking, and marketing support. We are improving access to fresh, locally produced food for families across Michigan. 

The Farm to Family Program is supporing Michigan families in many ways, including:

    Our team promotes the department’s priorities by strengthening opportunities for regenerative farming and for farmers that grow nutritious specialty and staple crops.

    Our program promotes climate resilience, economic prosperity, diversity in agriculture, and innovation by strengthening market opportunities for Michigan farmers.

  • Grants

    We tailor our annual grants to the emerging needs of farmers, local food businesses, and other stakeholders.

  • Community Engagement

    We host listening sessions, lead focus groups at conferences and other events, and collect feedback directly from grantees on an ongoing basis.

  • Market Development

    We provide coaching, networking opportunities, market education materials, and more to help Michigan farmers and food businesses establish sustainable market channels for their products.

    Exciting things are happening in the Michigan food system! Get inspired by the innovative solutions and impactful projects being implemented by Farm to Family grantees and other trailblazers across the state.

  • Good Food For Michigan

    This program is a partnership between MDARD and the Center for Good Food Purchasing. The initiative seeks to expand the number of organizations and institutions committed to purchasing Michigan-grown and produced foods, expand market opportunities for Michigan producers, and foster public education around healthy foods and Michigan agriculture.
