Farm to Family aims to:

  • Valorize supply chains rooted in regenerative agriculture, local, regional, and healthy food.
  • Shorten supply chains while increasing volumes.
  • Promote community and economic resiliency from climate change, extreme weather, and supply chain disruptions.

Diversity in Agricultural Production

Farm to Family will:

  • Place a priority focus on supporting nutritious foods.
  • Promote diverse crop value chains that honor and reinforce Michigan’s specialty crop heritage.
  • Expand market opportunities for diverse, nutritious crops through community collaboration and development of middle-of-the-supply-chain activities.

Economic Prosperity Across Michigan

Farm to Family seeks to:

  • Develop production, aggregation, and distribution infrastructure to advance economic prosperity for stakeholders in agri-food production networks.
  • Create economic development opportunities through market access facilitation and education resources for Michigan farms and food businesses.
  • Communicate investments, opportunities, and successes in targeted ways across Michigan, from crops to classroom and from farm to family.

Farm to Family will:

  • Expand opportunities for Michigan farmers and food businesses to supply healthy foods for programs operated by state and federal agencies.
  • Offer grants that respond to emerging needs and opportunities, identified through community input.
