MiSTEM convenes a statewide network of leaders in education, business and local communities to empower the next generation of innovators.
The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. Director is a voting member and makes final decision on projects (Public Act 411 of 2012).

This program prepares student for an entry-level career in seven areas of specialization. Students work to become certified by the State of Michigan or through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). There are also two five-week courses that focus on oil change and tire services. Additionally, there is a Parts Specialist program for retail automotive parts personnel; this program includes a 5-week internship and has an ASE related certification that can be earned. Depending on skills, abilities, and interests, students can participate up to six terms. All courses incorporate the National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation (NATEF) industry standards.

Students that complete our program find a job easily. Starting pay may range from the current minimum wage to a higher amount depending on the location of the job. Experienced students with leadership skills can apply for shop foreman or service manager.
Students who most closely match the U.S. Department of Labor occupational profile for an Automotive Service Technician are accepted for enrollment.
