Bryan’s journey from Pre-ETS participant to near employment
April 01, 2026
Bryan’s path with Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) has been nothing short of remarkable—a journey defined by steady growth, hard work and a clear commitment to achieving competitive employment.
Bryan first connected with MRS in December 2018 as a Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) participant, referred by the local school system. While enrolled in the Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA) STEP Program for young adults, Bryan engaged in a variety of Pre-ETS activities designed to build workplace readiness, self-advocacy and career exploration skills.
Throughout this time, Bryan consistently demonstrated strong motivation, reliability and a genuine desire to succeed. These qualities did not go unnoticed. Bryan was formally recognized for outstanding dedication and exemplary traits associated with competitive employment, setting the stage for the next step in his vocational journey.
In recognition of this progress, Bryan was interviewed for Project SEARCH at Trinity Hospital, a highly respected internship program supported through a collaboration between MRS, LESA, Trinity Hospital and Lekander Coaching. Bryan was accepted into the program—an achievement that reflected both his potential and commitment to personal and professional growth.
During the Project SEARCH experience, Bryan excelled. His performance at Trinity Hospital has been consistently exceptional, especially within the Sterile Surgical Department, where precision, cleanliness and strict adherence to protocol are essential. Staff members have repeatedly praised Bryan’s work ethic, attention to detail and ability to thrive in a highly structured, sterile environment.
As part of his Project SEARCH experience, Bryan created a PowerPoint presentation to help visitors and fellow interns understand the nature of his work. Because the sterile environment requires specific attire and limited access, the presentation serves as an informative and engaging way to showcase the responsibilities and importance of the role.
Bryan is now on track to receive an employment offer from the Sterile Surgical Department, a testament to the skills he has developed and the professionalism he brings each day.
This journey—from Pre-ETS participation to near-employment in a hospital surgical department—highlights the Bryan’s resilience, dedication and capacity for growth. It also reflects the power of collaboration among MRS, educational partners and community employers. Most importantly, it stands as a celebration of Bryan’s achievements and the bright future ahead.
