"MDARD is proud to partner with the Michigan Livestock Expo and the Michigan Dairy Expo to help young Michiganders fund their studies,"  said MDARD Director Tim Boring. "These scholarships strengthen agricultural education in Michigan and will help keep our agriculture industry at the cutting edge for generations to come."

Qualified high school seniors and recent graduates may apply for the 2026 MYLSF awards by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026. Applications and qualification requirements are located on the Michigan Youth Livestock Scholarship Fund web page

Prospective applicants may apply for either a MYSLF scholarship of up to $5,000 or for a state-wide scholarship of up to $1,000. To be eligible for these scholarships, the applicant must be:

The MYLSF board will review all applications and will interview the top applicants for the MYSLF and state-wide scholarships prior to the Michigan Livestock Expo "Sale-Abration" event in East Lansing on July 14, 2026.

The MYLSF is funded by proceeds from the annual Michigan Livestock Expo  Sale-Abration  auction as well as charitable donations. The fund is governed by an 11-member board comprised of volunteers from Michigan's agricultural community.
