Construction Prequalification

Anyone seeking to bid on and/or perform work on MDOT projects must be prequalified. Construction prequalification is required for work including bridge, road, pavement, water main, sewer, electrical, demolition, bridge painting, signing, guardrail, fencing, seeding/sodding, landscaping, pavement marking, and railroad construction/signals.

Prequalification Process

The video provides construction contractors with instruction for electronic submittal of construction prequalification information.


  1. Obtain a prequalification application packet.
    1. Download the required forms; or
    2. Request an application packet online.
  2. Complete all forms and attachments per the prequalification checklist included in the packet.
  3. Where required, be sure that original signatures and notary information has been completed.
  4. New contractors need to include the following documents with the application:
    • Articles of Incorporation, Articles of Organization; or
  5. Attach optional items:
    • Equipment Appraisal.
