About Real Estate Services
The Real Estate Services Section of MDOT’s Development Services Division sets and maintains statewide real estate standards, policies and procedures and provides training. It also manages real estate activities for condemnation, leases/licenses, railroads, excess property, technical work and program management.
The section oversees the Local Agency Real Estate and Real Estate Quality Assurance Programs and supports MDOT region offices in appraisal valuation, right‑of‑way acquisition, relocation assistance and demolition of improvements.

Online auction sale
MDOT has expanded its process for selling excess real estate to include online auctions. Through DTMB‑MiBid, the department posts properties from across the state that are no longer needed for transportation purposes. To access MDOT’s online real estate auctions and place bids, individuals must register for MiLogin access.
-
Property disposal
MDOT periodically licenses, leases or sells real estate that is no longer needed for transportation purposes through sealed‑bid, auction or over‑the‑counter sales. For more information, contact an MDOT region real estate agent.
