Structure Preservation and Management
The Office of Structure Preservation and Management is responsible for the administration of the overall bridge capital outlay program, NBI Program, and Preservation Section. This area is responsible for resolving complex bridge and structure issues related to preservation, management, funding, strategy, and condition goals to ensure continued implementation and operation of MDOT services and products to its customers.

Bridge management and scoping
The program works to addresses the needs of all structures of critical concern, and maintain the statewide inventory of bridges in good or fair condition.
Safety inspection
The program ensures compliance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards through quality assurance reviews, annual evaluations, and inspection verifications.
Load Rating
The program is responsible for ensuring that all bridges are load rated to verify their safe load carrying capacity in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards.
Structure Preservation
The program provides technical expertise to MDOT regions, local agencies, and consultants for structure maintenance and design.
Ancillary Structures
Ancillary structures, such as sign supports, lighting structures, and barrier walls, are minor structures that are built to support MDOT's primary road and bridges structures.
