Maps

Every year, MDOT produces an updated version of the state transportation map. The department also produces numerous geographic information system maps to assist commuters, tourists, and businesses.

In Michigan, there are three publicly-owned and operated bridges: Mackinac Bridge, Blue Water Bridge, and International Bridge. There are also two privately-owned and operated border crossings: Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.

MDOT's Office of Business Development (OBD) manages external civil rights programs, such as the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program, the On-the-Job Training Program, and the Small Business Program, and ensures compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, equal opportunity requirements for contractors, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Local Agency Program

The Local Agency Program (LAP) administers the local allocation of federal and state aid programs (road, special funding, and bridge). The program is responsible for the development of statewide processes for the implementation of all required state and federal regulations as it relates to local agencies. It is also the owner of Local Agency Program Management System (LAPMS) and Local Agency Reimbursement System (LARS).

Local Agencies and their consultants must not start acquisition activities, except those preliminary acquisition activities allowed under 23 CFR 710.203 (a)(3), until they receive notification from MDOT that NEPA has been approved to proceed with acquisition. Proceeding without such notification may jeopardize all of that agency’s federal funding for that project. Contact MDOT-LAP-NEPA-Reviews@Michigan.gov with questions or for additional information.
