MONTAGUE, Mich. - MDOT is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, Aug. 21, to discuss a resurfacing project and potential lane reconfiguration on US-31 Business Route (BR) between the White River bridge and Stanton Street. Construction is planned to begin in 2027. MDOT officials will provide current project details, scheduling information and expected traffic impacts. The public is invited to stop by anytime during the meeting to learn more about the project, provide comments and ask questions.
"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let's build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."

Project information:
Currently scheduled for 2027, MDOT will resurface US-31 BR between the White River bridge and Stanton Street. The project also includes potentially reducing the four-lane section of the business route to one lane in each direction with a center-left turn lane and wider shoulders.
