M-10 (Lodge Freeway) ramp to I-94 in Detroit closed next week for work on Second Avenue bridge

Fast facts:

  • The northbound M-10 ramp to eastbound I-94 is scheduled to close at noon on Monday, Oct. 24.      
  • The ramp closure is expected to reopen by early afternoon on Friday, Oct. 28.    
  • Ramp traffic will be detoured to northbound I-75 to access eastbound I-94.   

DETROIT, Mich. ­- Weather permitting, structural work will require closing the northbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway) ramp to eastbound I-94 in Detroit at noon on Monday, Oct. 24. The ramp closure is needed for the safety of crews and motoring public while work continues on the new Second Avenue bridge over I-94.  

During the closure, ramp traffic will be directed to northbound I-75 to access eastbound I-94. The ramp is expected to reopen by noon on Friday, Oct. 28. 

The new Second Avenue structure is the first network tied arch bridge built in the state of Michigan. Network refers to the cables that are crossed from the top of the arch to the bottom of the driving surface on both sides of the structure.

The Second Avenue bridge was originally built in 1954 and has never been replaced. Additional information on the Second Avenue bridge can be found on the I-94 project website.
