Public meeting next week in Allegan on M-89 project scheduled for 2024

ALLEGAN, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a public meeting on the 2024 construction of a roundabout at the M-89/M-40 intersection in the city of Allegan. MDOT officials will provide project details, current scheduling information and the proposed detour routes. The public is invited to stop by anytime during the meeting to learn more about the project and provide comments.

Project information:

  • In 2024, MDOT plans to build a roundabout in partnership with the City of Allegan at the M-89/M-40 intersection and resurface M-89 from M-222 (Monroe Street) to 29th Street. The roundabout will encompass Marshall Street, N Cedar Street, Jenner Drive, Hubbard Street, and Ely Street.
  • To accommodate roundabout construction, MDOT will need to acquire a small triangle of property within the Pritchard’s Outlook Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
