Every year, MDOT produces an updated version of the state transportation map. The department also produces numerous geographic information system maps to assist commuters, tourists, and businesses.
In Michigan, there are three publicly-owned and operated bridges: Mackinac Bridge, Blue Water Bridge, and International Bridge. There are also two privately-owned and operated border crossings: Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.
A vibrant and sustainable multimodal transportation system is vital to Michigan's future economic viability and competitiveness. From aviation to public transportation, rail, freight, and marine, MDOT is involved in all modes of transportation.
MDOT's Office of Business Development (OBD) manages external civil rights programs, such as the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program, the On-the-Job Training Program, and the Small Business Program, and ensures compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, equal opportunity requirements for contractors, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Project background:
MDOT is replacing the M-50 (Cooper Street) bridge over the Grand River and installing a new water main along Cooper Street from Washington Avenue to Michigan Avenue. The project includes rebuilding the deck on the I-94 Business Route (Louis Glick Highway) bridge over the Grand River and extending a nonmotorized path along the west side of the new Cooper Street bridge over the Grand River in the city of Jackson.
Public comment:
Public input is being sought to help MDOT recognize and address any public concerns that may result from permanent right of way for roadway use from a city park, temporary city park property use for construction activities, the temporary closure of the Grand River to recreational use during bridge work, and a pedestrian trail detour during work per a proposed recreational de minimis impact finding under Section 4(f) of the U.S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966. Public comment can be submitted via an online comment form, e-mail, and in person at the public meeting. Provide your comments by June 20, 2023.
