I-94 reconstruction update: M-29 (23 Mile Road) to County Line Road in Macomb County
September 27, 2023
CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Currently, construction crews are paving eastbound and westbound I-94 between M-29 (23 Mile Road) and north of M-19 (New Haven Road) and are finishing the overlay and rebuilding on the I-94/M-29 and I-94/M-19 interchanges.
Weekend work continues through late October on eastbound and westbound I-94 between M-29 (23 Mile Road) and M-19 (New Haven Road) with only one lane open. The I-94 ramps at M-29 and M-19 will be intermittently closed as paving progresses through those areas.
The 26 Mile Road ramps are mostly completed except for miscellaneous work.
The majority of the road work is expected to be completed by Oct. 31, with punch list work and signal work continuing through early December.
This work is part of a $32.5 million I-94 project from M-29 (23 Mile Road) to County Line Road, which includes bridge work at six locations, traffic signal upgrades and partial ramp rebuilding at the I-94/M-19 and I-94/M-29 interchanges.
Based on economic modeling, this investment has directly and indirectly supported 393 jobs.
