Detour changed for upcoming M-29 closure in St. Clair County
October 05, 2023
SAGINAW, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close M-29 from Bree Road to Clinton Avenue to complete concrete patches and replace the CSX Railroad crossing in the city of St. Clair. The detour routes have been adjusted to accommodate other work on local roads.
This work is part of an overall $965,000 investment to improve 1.6 miles of M-29, including sidewalk ramp improvements compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Estimated project end date:
Monday, Oct. 30, 2023
M-29 will be detoured via Bree Road, St. Clair Highway, King Road, Fred Moore Highway, Carney Drive, and Clinton Avenue. To minimize the impact on traffic, an inspection of the M-29 bascule bridge over the Pine River will also occur while M-29 is closed.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 14 jobs.
This work will improve the driving surface of M-29 and the railroad crossing.
