Northbound US-31 repaving complete, all lanes reopening Wednesday in Berrien County
October 12, 2023
COLOMA, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has substantially completed the $32.9 million project to repave more than 12 miles of northbound US-31 from US-12 between Niles and Buchanan to M-139 in Berrien Springs, Berrien County.
Work started in April, and all lanes and ramps on US-31 are expected to reopen on Wednesday, Oct. 18, weather permitting. There are planned single-lane and shoulder closures through early November for pavement repairs and to close the median crossover lanes.
This project included hot-mix asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, concrete curb and gutter, culverts, drainage, guardrail, fencing, signs, and pavement markings.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 398 jobs.
