Temporary speed limit remains in force at US-141 Iron County bridge project
October 23, 2023
COVINGTON, Mich. - A temporary reduced speed limit of 25 mph remains in effect on the US-141 bridge over the East Branch of the Net River in Iron County.
Crews continue to work on the bridge, with a second bridge deck concrete pour tentatively scheduled for later this week. The work is weather dependent and this schedule is subject to change.
One alternating lane will remain open at the bridge during work using temporary traffic signals. A 10-foot width restriction will remain in place at the bridge.
Traffic fines are doubled in work zones.
The speed limit reduction is being implemented in lieu of an extensive detour. The reduction is needed to successfully complete part of a $4.9 million Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) investment to rebuild four bridges in Iron and Ontonagon counties.
This work will extend the lifespan of the bridges and result in a smoother driving surface and increased safety for motorists.
