GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A crucial component of the ongoing Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) study for the US-131 freeway between M-11 (28th Street) and Cherry Street is public input. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is gathering that input via an online public survey available through the end of this year. This phase of the PEL study builds on previous engagement efforts, narrows down project options and continues to collect comments from the public regarding potential improvement options for the corridor.

Currently, no funding is programmed for future rebuilding projects on US-131 stemming from the PEL study and subsequent efforts. The objectives of the survey and design options are covered in this short video.

"We've received thousands of comments since the survey opened and we're hoping to get more," said MDOT Grand Region Transportation Planner Tyler Kent. "Information from the public helps us further identify current and future needs for all users of US-131."

For more information on the PEL study or to provide comments, please visit the US-131 PEL website. Additional comments on the US-131 PEL study can be shared on the study website.
