Petoskey City Council to consider grant application for US-31 Mitchell Street bridge restoration work

GAYLORD, Mich. - At the Feb. 5, 2024, City of Petoskey City Council meeting, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be giving a brief presentation and seeking public comments on the 2025 US-31 Mitchell Street Bridge Restoration Project. The City of Petoskey, in partnership with MDOT, is seeking public input on a proposed Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant for funding to restore the US-31 Mitchell Street Bridge over Bear River.

Project information:
This historic bridge was built in 1930 and is 93 years old. MDOT is proposing to make necessary repairs to the bridge in 2025 to restore historic features and extend the life of the structure.
