Public meeting June 18 in Muskegon for future M-46 project

MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting a public meeting next week to discuss the planned 2026 rebuilding of M-46 (Apple Avenue) on the west side of US-31. The City of Muskegon is partnering with MDOT to review alternate designs, including the possibility of changing the lane configuration and the addition of non-motorized infrastructure. MDOT officials will provide current project details, scheduling information, and traffic impacts. The public is invited to stop by anytime during the meeting to learn more about the project and provide comments.

Project information:
In 2026, MDOT will be rebuilding M-46 from Muskegon Avenue to Home Street. This meeting will provide the public the opportunity to discuss and comment on the project and possible lane reconfigurations. The City of Muskegon has partnered with MDOT to create a website to provide more information regarding the project.
Additional public meetings are tentatively scheduled for this fall and next summer.
