CATA Looking Bus

Key project partners: Capital Area Transportation Authority, Looking Bus

Description: Looking Bus is a system of hardware and software to enable people, particularly those with visual impairments, to be able to communicate with buses and alert drivers they are awaiting pickup to ensure they board the correct vehicle, and notify them when they are approaching their destination.

Award amount: $464,910

Current status: This project is complete. During testing, some of the key elements worked consistently, but others were not reliable. Therefore, the application was not released for user acceptance testing. Looking Bus intends to continue to work independently on the application with the goal of developing a ready-to-use system.
