Vets to Wellness
Key project partners: Flint Mass Transportation Authority (MTA), Greater Lapeer Transportation Authority, Shiawassee Area Transportation Agency, Kevadiya
Description: Vets to Wellness increases transportation options for veterans through regional coordination, effective customer communication, same-day transportation options, and technology improvements. The pilot project includes regional mobility managers, travel training, trip planning, multiple scheduling options (such as an online customer portal and an interactive voice response phone system), and the availability of same-day and connected trips. A multipronged marketing strategy will inform the public of the new services.
Award amount: $603,512
Current status: This project is complete. The program was well-received. It allowed the introduction of technology improvements to make the transit systems more efficient and forged new relationships between the counties and agencies that serve veterans and/or provide transportation.
