Airspace & zoning
Airspace & zoning
The Office of Aeronautics has taken a proactive approach to promote the safety, welfare, and protection of persons and property in the air and on the ground by regulating the height, location, and visual and aural identification characteristics of certain structures. There are various state laws intended to protect aviation throughout the State of Michigan including, but not limited to, the Michigan Tall Structures Act, Michigan Aeronautics Code, and the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act.
Aeronautics provides safe and reasonable methods to assure proper protection and zoning for the areas surrounding airports in Michigan that are licensed for public use.
