Michigan Employer Advisor: August 2026
August 19, 2026
Haven't activated MiUI? Now is a good time to take a few minutes to launch your account
As part of the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency’s ongoing efforts to support employers throughout the transition to UIA's new MiUI system, you may receive a mailed reminder postcard within the next few weeks asking you to activate your MiUI account.
Activation is required to access employer services for both unemployment insurance tax and benefits functions.
However, you don't need to wait for a mailed notice to get started. MiUI University provides step-by-step guidance on where to find your Activation Code, how to initiate your account, and give access to a third-party administrator (TPA), if you use one.
If your MiUI account is active and you are completing tax functions in the system, or have granted your TPA the appropriate access, no additional action is needed.
If your TPA was assigned to you but you have not activated your MiUI account, please do so today.
Upcoming Go-Live date for benefits
The benefits portion of MiUI will launch Monday, Nov. 9.
Until then, all benefits functions will continue to be performed in MiWAM for Employers.
Activating your account now will help you prepare for the launch. READ MORE.
Streamlined appeals process for employers and claimants explained
Michigan’s updated unemployment laws, which went into effective in July, includes changes employers should know about.
Employers can now request multiple related appeals to be combined into a single hearing. Consolidation can reduce the number of hearings to attend, streamline the appeal process, and resolve issues more quickly.
Employers can request consolidation through MiWAM, their MiUI account, or by mailing or faxing the form available on the Protests and Appeals webpage. READ MORE.

Transparent Economic Dashboard offers new ways to dive into data
UIA’s public Economic Dashboard, first launched in May 2024, has been updated to strengthen its role as a tool for guiding policy decisions aimed at improving service for Michigan’s employers and workers.
The dashboard continues to provide insight into unemployment insurance trends across the state, helping users better understand how unemployment affects industries, occupations, and communities.
The UIA routinely evaluates the dashboard to identify ways to deepen the data and enhance public understanding. The latest review resulted in several updates that expand the scope and clarity of the information available.
