MiUI Minute: Issue 36

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new unemployment tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). MiUI Tax functions went live in February 2026, and Benefits Services functions are scheduled to be available later this year.

In this issue of the MiUI Minute, we’re announcing the date MiUI is scheduled to Go Live for Benefits Services functions.

MiUI Scheduled to Launch for Benefits Services on Nov. 9

UIA is excited to share that the Go Live date for MiUI Release 2 (Benefits) is scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2026

The launch of Benefits functions will affect every user. All employers MUST initiate their MiUI account to be able to access Benefits functions after Go Live. This includes viewing claim information and filing protests or appeals. Employers can initiate their MiUI accounts today

Prior to Go Live on November 9, you can still use both MiUI and MiWAM. After Go Live, however, you will no longer be able to access MiWAM. All information related to your account will be in MiUI. That is why employers must have their own MiUI account.

A required Downtime Period to transfer data from the old MiWAM system to the new MiUI is also being planned. During the Downtime Period in the days before Go Live, neither MiUI nor MiWAM will be available to any users: employers, third-party administrators, and those collecting benefits. More details about the Downtime Period will be shared at a later date.
