Transportation Maintenance Worker (TMW) track
As a TMW participant, you'll engage in hands-on work related to the upkeep and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. From roadways to bridges, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safe and efficient travel within our region.
- Duties include working with crews at regional garages to perform road and bridge work, surface, structure, sign, signal, shoulder, roadside maintenance activities, and facility and grounds maintenance.
Transportation Technician track
Dive into practical, hands-on or lab-based work focused on becoming a skilled transportation technician. Gain valuable experience in maintaining and improving transportation systems, contributing to the smooth flow of traffic and overall infrastructure reliability.
- Duties will include working in the areas of permits, traffic and safety, and maintenance.
Trade-Helper Duties track

About Grand Region
The Grand Region manages more than 4,300 lane-miles of state trunkline (US, M and I routes) and 968 bridges in 13 counties: Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola and Ottawa. In addition to the Grand Region Office, there are three transportation service centers, five maintenance garages, one special crews garage, a sign shop, and an automotive/equipment maintenance facility.
