M-39 closures between US-12 and M-102 (8 Mile Road) next two weekends for maintenance in Wayne County

DETROIT, Mich. - A variety of work needs to be performed on M-39 (Southfield Freeway), which requires all northbound lanes this weekend and all southbound lanes next weekend. Crews will be collecting a large number of soil/pavement borings required for a future M-39 rebuilding project in this area in 2025-2026, while maintenance crews will be cleaning and repairing drainage structures.

Beginning 10 p.m. Friday, June 3, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 6, northbound M-39 will be closed from US-12 (Michigan Avenue) through McNichols Road (6 Mile Road), along with all on and off ramps.

The detour will be northbound M-39 to westbound US-12 (Michigan Avenue), then westbound US-12 (Michigan Avenue) to northbound US-24, and eastbound M-102 (8 Mile Road) to M-39.

The following weekend, southbound M-39 will be closed from M-102 (8 Mile Road) to (Michigan Avenue) from 10 p.m. Friday, June 10, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 13.

The detour for southbound M-39 will be westbound M-102 (8 Mile Road) to southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road), then eastbound US-12 (Michigan Avenue) to M-39.

These closures will allow crews to work safely versus closing multiple lanes in different locations over many weekends.
