Recent bridge inspection requires closing Cass Avenue over I-94 in Detroit

DETROIT, Mich. - A recent bridge inspection revealed the need to make repairs to the driving surface of Cass Avenue over I-94 in the city of Detroit. The repairs are expected to be completed in late July. During the closure of the overpass, Cass Avenue traffic (between Palmer Avenue and Antoinette Street) will be diverted to M-1 (Woodward Avenue). Access to local businesses will be maintained.

The Cass Avenue overpass was originally built in 1955 and has never been replaced. The removal and replacement of the overpass is scheduled to begin in early 2023.
