DETROIT/SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Beginning 6 a.m., Saturday, March 4 through 3 p.m., Monday, March 6, northbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) will be reduced to one lane from M-5 (Grand River Avenue) to M-102 (8 Mile Road) for underground sewer work. The Monday reopen time frame is subject to change as the work is weather dependent and may be delayed or scheduled for additional lane closures through the early part of the week.
From early next week 6 through late June, northbound and southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) between M-5 (Grand River Avenue) and M-102 (8 Mile Road) will be reduced to two lanes in each direction for median work.
MDOT is investing $54 million to rebuild 1.4 miles of US-24 (Telegraph Road) between M-5 (Grand River Avenue) to north of M-102 (8 Mile Road). This two-year project includes the reconstruction of US-24, improving five bridges, drainage and watermain improvements, sidewalk ramp improvements that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), sign replacements, and traffic signal improvements from the M-5 (Grand River Avenue) intersection to the M-102 (8 Mile Road) area where a diverging diamond interchange (DDI) will be built to improve efficiency and enhance safety. The DDI will be rebuilt in 2024.
