Ramp closures at I-94 M-29 Interchange in Macomb County for approximately three weeks

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Beginning 7 a.m. Thursday, May 4, the westbound I-94 exit ramp to M-29 (23 Mile Road) will be closed for approximately three weeks for pavement repairs and partial reconstruction in the interchange.

Westbound I-94 traffic will be detoured to the westbound I-94 exit ramp to 26 Mile Road, then westbound on 26 Mile Road to southbound on M-3 (Gratiot Avenue), and then eastbound to M-29 (23 Mile Road).

Also closing is the westbound M-29 (23 Mile Road) entrance ramp to eastbound I-94 for approximately 3 weeks. Beginning 7 a.m. Thursday, May 4, westbound M-29 traffic will be detoured to northbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and then eastbound on 26 Mile Road to eastbound I-94.

This work will also affect M-29 (23 Mile Road) between M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and Foster Road and I-94 at M-29, Both locations will have traffic reduced to one lane in each direction on Thursday, May 4 to set up these ramp closures and then M-29 will reopen to two lanes. I-94 remains reduced to one lane from M-19 to County Line Road for bridge work.

This work is part of a $32.5 million dollar project on I-94 from M-29 (23 Mile Road) to County Line Road which includes milling and resurfacing of 6.14 miles of I-94, bridge work at six locations, traffic signal upgrades and partial ramp reconstruction at the I-94/M-19 and I-94/M-29 interchanges. Work will be completed by late fall.
