Project background:
MDOT is replacing the Church Street Plaza Bridge over I-696 in the city of Oak Park. The proposed work will entail removal and replacement of the superstructure along with rebuilding the recreational areas of the plaza. The new recreational areas will include all the existing elements, such as the playground. Additional elements are under consideration to make it a more inclusive and accessible space for everyone regardless of age, ability, or background. MDOT is seeking input at New Elements for Z03 Plaza (Victoria Park) Over I-696.

To complete the removal and reconstruction of the Church Street Plaza Bridge over I-696, MDOT is proposing closures of the plaza during construction, including some of the adjacent park area and ball fields within Victoria Park. Pedestrian and bicycle detours also will need to be in place during construction.

Public comment:
Public input is being sought to help recognize and address any public concerns that may result from any impacts to Victoria Park per a proposed de minimis impact finding under Section 4(f) of U.S. Department of Transportation Act of 1966. Comments can be submitted via an online comment form, e-mail, and in-person at the public meeting. Provide your comments by May 29, 2023.
